Where to Stay at Bryce Canyon: The Best Hotels and Campgrounds

Last Updated on March 22, 2023 by admin

Bryce Canyon National Park is one of the most popular parks in the United States. The canyon is filled with columns of weathered rocks with stunning colors. If you’re planning a trip to Bryce Canyon National Park, you’ll need to find out where to stay. We recommend that you book your lodging reservations well in advance, because things fill up quickly during peak season. We’ve researched all the lodging options, and we have some clear favorites. In this post, we’ll share details about hotels and campgrounds near Bryce Canyon that will help you make the most of your visit to this whimsical wonderland.

We think that choosing a place to stay is just as important as planning trip activities. A hotel can really make or break your trip depending on its location and amenities. (For example, if you need WiFi or cell service, if you prefer air conditioning, or if you’d like to have access to a swimming pool.) Bryce Canyon National Park Accommodations

The Lodge at Bryce Canyon

Address: The Lodge at Bryce Canyon, Bryce Canyon National Park, Bryce, Utah 84764

There’s just one hotel located within Bryce Canyon National Park itself, and that’s the Lodge at Bryce Canyon. Because it’s the only option within the park, it books up fast. You’ll want to make your reservations as soon as possible to secure lodging there. They typically accept reservations up to 13 months in advance. You can choose to book a room at the main lodge, Sunrise Motel, Sunset Motel, or private cabins. (Note that the lodge is open seasonally.)

The lodge itself is conveniently located just 5 minutes past the visitor center, and it’s nestled between Sunrise and Sunset Points. The best part about staying at this hotel is that the canyon rim is just a short walk away. You can soak up the views anytime you like… including before the crowds arrive!

The lodge also has a dining room, pizzeria and coffee shop, and general store. There’s also an option for guests to reserve horseback riding experiences. One thing that the lodge doesn’t have, however, is a swimming pool.

Although we personally didn’t stay at the Lodge at Bryce Canyon when we were visiting, we did see it as we were walking from Sunrise to Sunset Points. It’s location is certainly unbeatable!

Hotels in the Town of Bryce Canyon City

Booking.com

Just adjacent to Bryce Canyon National Park is the town of Bryce. This is where most travelers stay when they visit Bryce Canyon. It’s only a 6-minute drive to the park entrance, so it’s a very convenient place to stay. There’s also a free shuttle that will transport guests from Bryce into the national park. (If you don’t stay in Bryce, though, you can still park at the shuttle station to use the shuttle.) It’s definitely an added perk, though, when there is a shuttle stop right at your hotel door! You won’t have to worry about crowds or parking, which makes for a stress-free vacation.

Best Western Plus Ruby’s Inn

Address: 26 South Main St, Bryce Canyon City, Utah 84764

One of the most popular hotels in Bryce is Best Western Plus Ruby’s Inn. This hotel has it all: a restaurant, a gift shop, and a concierge desk that coordinates tons of local activities (such as horseback riding, mountain biking, guided ATV tours, and more). It’s also a pet-friendly hotel if you are planning on bringing your dog. They have an indoor heated pool and an outdoor seasonal pool, as well as a basketball court. The hotel is also within walking distance of the Bryce Canyon City Park Playground. There’s tons of things to do at this hotel if you are taking a break from the park. The shuttle also stops right at this hotel, so it’s convenient to get into the park each day.

Best Western Plus Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel

Address: 30 N 100 E, Bryce Canyon City, Utah 84764

The Best Western Plus Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel is also conveniently located right next to the park and within walking distance of Old Bryce Town. The shuttle also stops at this hotel. This is where we personally stayed during our trip to Bryce Canyon, and this was by far our favorite hotel of our entire road trip. The rooms were large, and we had double sinks with a separate bathroom. The hotel had an outdoor pool and the best continental breakfast of our entire trip. There were dozens of hot and cold options for breakfast. We especially enjoyed the biscuits and gravy and the pastries. We were able to easily walk to Old Bryce Town and enjoy shopping and ice cream. We would recommend this hotel to others based on our experience.

Bryce Canyon Resort

Address: 13500 E, UT-12, Bryce Canyon City, Utah 84764

The Bryce Canyon Resort is still technically within Bryce Canyon City, but it’s not walkable to Old Bryce Town like the Grand Hotel or Ruby’s Inn. The advantage is that it’s further away from the crowds and it’s a more secluded experience. The resort has guest rooms and cabins available. There are two on-site restaurants (Cowboy Ranch House and Subway). They also have pet-friendly rooms. You can rent ATVs and bikes at this location. The rooms also tend to be more affordable than the hotels listed above.

Hotels in the Town of Tropic

Booking.com

Tropic is located about 11 miles away from Bryce Canyon National Park. It’s about a 16-minute drive to the entrance of Bryce Canyon National Park.

Stone Canyon Inn

Address: 1380 W Stone Canyon Ln, Tropic, Utah 84776

If we could book our trip all over again, this is where we would stay. The Stone Canyon Inn was rated as one of the 10 best lodging properties in the United States for getting lost in the outdoors by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine. The Stone Canyon Inn features cabins, bungalows, trees houses, deluxe king rooms, and a guest house! (So basically they have something for everyone.) They’re also one of the few hotels that have a view of the canyon itself. From the property you can see Bristlecone Ridge, Sinking Ship, Fairyland Amphitheater, Sunrise Point, and Sunset Point. The hotel also has excellent dining available at The Stone Hearth Grille (open seasonly).

Red Ledges Inn

Address: 181 N Main St, Tropic, Utah 84776

The Red Ledges Inn offers affordable rates and basic amenities. If you’re looking to spend most of your trip outdoors away from the hotel, this hotel will certainly meet your needs. There is no dining on-site (besides a continental breakfast), but it is within walking distance to several restaurants in Tropic.

Hotels in the Town of Panguitch

  Booking.com

Panguitch is the furthest away from Bryce Canyon National Park among these choices. It’s about 25 miles away from the entrance, which is about a 33-minute drive to the park. If you’re traveling on a budget, this is also where to find the most affordable hotels near Bryce Canyon.

Quality Inn Bryce Canyon

Address: 3800 US-89, Panguitch, Utah 84759

The Quality Inn Bryce Canyon is 18.5 miles away from the park entrance. The hotel has a western-theme despite being a chain hotel. They serve a complimentary hot breakfast each morning. This is also a pet-friendly hotel.

Church’s Blue Pine Motel

Address: 130 N Main St, Panguitch, Utah 84759

Church’s Blue Pine Motel is an affordable motel. It’s within walking distance to shops and restaurants.

What to Pack for Your Trip to Bryce Canyon

You’ll want to bring sufficient water for a full day at the park. Pack more than you think you’ll need. (It’s never a bad thing to have an extra water bottle.) An insulated water bottle will keep your water cool. Sun protection is also important, so you’ll want to bring your favorite sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat. If you’re planning on going hiking, bring the 10 Essentials with you.

You might want to bring binoculars so you can see the details across the canyon. Be sure to bring comfortable walking or hiking shoes. Dress in layers so you are prepared for a variety of temperatures throughout the day. A portable charger will ensure that your phone doesn’t run out of battery. You’ll need a comfortable daypack to carry all of your things, one of which should be a first aid kit. And don’t forget to bring your camera, tripod, and/or selfie-stick to capture those photos!

If you have a baby or a toddler, you’ll also want to consider bring an Ergo, a hiking baby carrier, and a sunhat! See our full post on our favorite baby travel products here.

We also recommend that you purchase a guide book ahead of your visit. You’ll also want to bring a map, especially if you plan on doing a lot of hiking.

Restaurants Near Bryce Canyon

If you’re within the park, you can stop by the Lodge at Bryce Canyon (located near Sunset Point). There is a formal dining room, as well as some grab-and-go options.

In Bryce Canyon City, we recommend Ruby’s Inn Cowboy’s Buffet & Steak Room. They have a wide menu and you can choose from either entrees or the buffet. We ate there several times because it was conveniently located by our hotel.

Outside of the park, our favorite restaurant was Bryce Canyon Pines. The Green Bean Fries and the Banana Blueberry Pie were our absolute favorites! Seriously, if you’re going to Bryce Canyon National Park, stop by Bryce Canyon Pines for your meal.

Guided Tours of Bryce Canyon

Booking a guided tour can help to personalize your tour and give you a unique experience. Whether you want to go horseback riding or have a gourmet picnic, there is a tour for you!

Here’s a few ideas:

  • Horseback Riding at Bryce Canyon: When you book this tour, you’ll be able to go horseback riding through Bryce Canyon National Park with a trained guide. You’ll basically be exploring the area the same way that Butch Cassidy did!
  • Private Guided Hike with a Gourmet Picnic: When you book this tour, you won’t have to worry about a thing. Your trained guide will take you to the Navajo and Queens Garden trail, and you’ll even get to have a gourmet picnic at Sunrise Point.
